Even horses kept in the barn require extra protection through the colder months, especially when they are clipped and accustomed to being indoors. A heavy horse blanket can make the difference between a horse that is well or ill, and everyone knows how expensive a vet bill can be! It is far less costly to cash in on the current sales at The Equestrian Corner by stocking up on horse blankets, exercise sheets, and leg wraps that will help protect your horse from injury and illness.

A good turnout blanket can keep your horse comfortable and healthy even in the coldest weather with fleece linings, stretch insulation, and breathable waterproof materials unavailable in the past. Dress sheets can whisk away moisture while keeping your horse warm after training sessions. The protection provided by high quality horse blankets will keep their joints and respiratory tract in the best possible shape, making it possible for you to train year-round.

Your horse riding equipment takes a beating between heavy training sessions and damp, cold weather. A little bit of moisture or sweat left untended can cause strong, supple leather to become brittle, unsightly and potentially dangerous. This is the perfect time of year to assess your horse riding equipment for cracks, mold and other damage. Horse riding equipment that cannot be adequately cleaned and treated with leather care products should be replaced, and now is a great time to do so as The Equestrian Corner cuts prices to make room for new inventory.

New, high quality horse riding equipment, horse blankets, riding apparel and horse tack is currently available at incredible sale prices from The Equestrian Corner.

Fall is officially here and our beloved horses will need a little extra protection from the elements to avoid joint stiffness, to keep them from getting chilled after a workout, and to keep them warm and dry while outside. Being the athletes that they are, horses can build up body heat as they exercise. While sweating helps stabilize their body temperature, it can lead to a bad chill or even illness if they are not kept warm and dry afterward.

Horse clothing and horse blankets are the perfect solution to this dilemma. Just as riders must wear the appropriate equestrian riding apparel based on the weather, so must horses be protected from the elements to remain fit and healthy. You can protect your horse from Fall weather with turnout blankets, turnout sheets, and dress sheets from The Equestrian Corner. The breathable, water resistant, and durable rip stop fabrics used to make The Equestrian Center’s horse blankets and other types of horse clothing will keep your horse warm and clean all fall.

Tough Protection with Turnout Blankets

Turnout blankets provide the ultimate protection for the horse that spends most or all of its time outside. Fall turnout blankets from The Equestrian Corner feature fleece linings that make them both versatile and effective for protecting your horse from the Fall elements. These durable turnout blankets will last for years and are machine washable.

The Tuffrider 600D Stretch Manager Thermolined Turnout Blanket is the first in the world to offer waterproof, breathable stretch fabric for a horse blanket. This state of the art horse blanket is made from 94% rip stop polyester and 6% Lycra and it allows your horse the freedom of movement unavailable in any other horse blanket. Trim, nicely fitting and well insulated, this horse blanket from The Equestrian Corner is unparalleled with its stretch webbing. The quick-snap double front closure allows your horse to bend and move comfortably while staying warm and dry.

The durable rip stop polyester fabric used to create the Tuffrider 600D Turnout Blanket from The Equestrian Corner makes it both waterproof and breathable for those wet, rainy days in the pasture. The polyfill insulating layer provides warmth and comfort while allowing moisture to wick away, keeping your horse at an optimal temperature on even the chilliest fall days. The high gusset allows for greater freedom of movement, while the bright orange color protects your horse from hunters with less than adequate vision. The seams are taped to prevent rain from leaking in to avoid counteracting the positive results obtained from using this high quality horse blanket.

If you need something lighter for your region, the Tuffrider 600D Plaid Medium Weight Turnout Blanket from The Equestrian Corner is an excellent choice. The polyfill is somewhat lighter in weight, but it still provides waterproof, breathable comfort and protection. The nylon shoulder lining and high gusset of this horse blanket offer extra measures of comfort, while the removable leg straps are an added convenience.

The Equestrian Corner also offers horse blankets that feature an integrated neck. This article of horse clothing will help to keep your horse warmer as it provides extra coverage. It also keeps your horse dry by preventing rain from dripping down the neck and under your regular horse blanket. The new Tuffrider Closed Front Nylon Blanket Liner is a great way to supplement your existing horse blanket with a convenient insulation layer. This liner features stainless steel hardware, low cross surcingles, double front closures, and a removable tail flap.

Turnout Sheets Provide Lightweight Protection

Turnout sheets are lightweight and they provide breathable, stretch comfort and warmth for your horse on those chilly mornings. The innovative Tuffrider 1200D Stretch Manager Plus Turnout Sheet from The Equestrian Corner is another first of its kind in the horse clothing world. The rip stop fabric offers a 4-way stretch for the ultimate in comfort, which is then laminated with a breathable, waterproof fabric guaranteed to keep your horse warm and dry. This attractive piece of horse clothing uses strategically placed panels that do not require shoulder gussets to attain an aesthetically pleasing fit and lightweight protection from the elements.

Another turnout sheet worthy of your consideration is the 600D Plaid Fleece Lined Turnout Sheet. This turnout sheet is waterproof, breathable, and features a fleece lining for extra comfort. The taped seams and the nylon lining at the shoulders and across the bottom keep your horse comfortable, clean, and dry on even the rainiest, muddiest days. The removable leg straps offer an extra measure of convenience.
Dress Sheets Stabilize Body Temperature

Just as a windbreaker should be a normal part of your equestrian riding apparel, so, too, should you treat your horse with a dress sheet. This article of horse clothing is exactly what you need to keep your horse from getting chilled after a good workout. The Classic Fleece Sheet wicks away moisture while stabilizing your horse’s body temperature.

Keeping your horse warm, dry, and comfortable in Fall will help them to stay happy and healthy. There are many different articles of horse clothing available from The Equestrian Center that are perfect for every type of weather.

Last week we highlighted some fall riding jackets that will help keep you warm as temperatures cool off. This week, we’d like to remind you that horses also need special attention and different equestrian equipment when the seasons change. Just as you wouldn’t dream of wearing a heavy down jacket in autumn, you shouldn’t subject your animal to winter horse blankets when something lighter is called for. Here are some quality horse blankets that would be perfect for fall weather.

Rambo “Original.” This is a very popular turnout blanket made by Horseware, a leading manufacturer of equestrian equipment. It has a durable 1,000 denier ballistic nylon shell and an antibacterial nylon lining, plus the fabric is waterproof and breathable to provide the right amount of protection for fall.

Tuffrider Thermolined. Made with a unique Thermolined material, these horse blankets from Tuffrider provide plenty of warmth in a lightweight package. The outer shell is made of 600 denier rip stop nylon, and the lining helps wick away moisture for added comfort.

Equine Couture Royal Caliber. If you live in an area where fall sometimes feels like winter, then you might want to go with a medium-weight turnout blanket such as the 270 GSM polyfill Equine Couture Royal Caliber. Its shoulder gussets, double surcingle, and adjustable leg flaps ensure a good fit, while the tail flap helps protect that delicate area. Best of all, Equine Couture makes apparel in the same pattern as their equestrian equipment so you and your mount can wear matching ensembles.

Rambo Duo. To get multi-season use out of your turnout blanket, we recommend this Rambo Duo with detachable liner. It comes with the same great features as the Rambo Original, but also includes a 300 gram liner that can be added to or removed from the 100 gram shell as conditions warrant.

Although horses tend to appreciate and thrive in the cooler weather, there are times when light or medium-weight horse blankets are necessary for warmth and comfort. For a great fall blanket and other season appropriate equestrian equipment, visit us at TheEquestrianCorner.com today.

One of your duties as a responsible horse owner is to use the right clothing to protect your animal from the elements all year round. This means providing a flysheet to guard against pesky insects in the summer; bundling up with a cozy horse blanket in the winter months; and using appropriate waterproof equestrian equipment when it’s wet and damp outside.

Choosing proper blankets and accessories to use during turnout mostly comes down to the temperature and weather in your area. For instance, if you live in a warm, dry climate, then you likely won’t have to worry about a horse blanket with a fleece lining and waterproof shell. But if the temperature has a tendency to dip dangerously low, then a warm lining becomes critical.

Here are the three major features to look at when picking out suitable horse clothing for your mount.

Outer shell
The outer shell of a horse blanket should be made of a very strong material such as 1000 or 1200 denier ballistic nylon. Lesser fabrics are not as durable and are more prone to ripping and tearing, so avoid the cheap stuff if possible.

You should also check to see if the outer shell is labeled “water resistant” or “waterproof.” These two terms, though similar, are not the same. If an item is water resistant, it will repel water, but there will probably be a significant amount of seepage after prolonged exposure to rain. On the other hand, waterproof equestrian equipment will completely block out water and keep your animal nice and dry despite the stormy conditions.

Lining
The lining is the part of the horse blanket that rests against the animal’s body. It is usually made of fleece or other breathable material to wick moisture away and keep your mount dry during turnout. This is particularly important in the winter. Horses sweat even when it’s cold out, and if that moisture is kept near their bodies in the frigid air, they will be more prone to illness.

Many types of linings are sold as separate pieces that you can then layer with various shells as the temperature or weather conditions warrant. This would be the way to go if you want greater versatility and flexibility from your equestrian equipment.

Insulation
On one-piece blankets, the insulation is sewn between the outer shell and the lining and is largely responsible for determining the degree of warmth that will be provided. Generally speaking, the more grams of “fill” one of these blankets has, the warmer it is. For example, heavyweight blankets might have anywhere from 350 to 400 grams of fill, and would be suitable for cold weather. Conversely, medium and lightweight blankets might have 200 grams of fill or less, making them perfect for cool spring or autumn days.

Accessories
For optimum protection, you should consider pairing a hood with your horse blanket. The hood fits over your mount’s head and neck to keep those sensitive areas warm and dry. Flysheets, fly masks, and ear nets are also recommended equestrian equipment for pest-free exercise in the summer.

When shopping for blankets and related equestrian equipment, be sure to consider specific product features as well as typical weather conditions in your area before you buy. This will help you choose items that will be just right for keeping your beloved companion as comfortable as possible.
